MUSIC

Charis Carter's primary goal as a performer is to encourage peace, hope and understanding through the art of music and self expression. This website is designed to keep you the listener, potential collaborators and the like connected and up to date involving everything Charis. She is an all around Mary Poppins hand bag with no limits or boundaries to what she may be involved with next. Charis's wide range of performance art is expressed through politically charged writing children's educational tunes, freelance songwriting, lead vocalization for The Penny Dreadfuls and story telling.

Charis will release a new album in Spring 2015.

This album was recorded in Charis' home as a response to the RPM challenge, which dares musicians to write and record a ten-song album in only 28 days. Charis acquired a modest recording setup, invited several fellow musicians over, and turned her living room into a studio. After 21 days of writing and recording, she headed to Kingsport, Tennessee, where she and musical partner Matt Vollrath spent long nights drinking large cups of tea and finishing the first mastering, which they called The Charismatic Side of Appalachia, by the February 28th deadline in early 2011.

Charis and Matt spent the next three months re-mastering the album, and released the result, Paloma, on May 20th, 2011.
